Maki-e

 A technique of drawing pictures, patterns, letters, etc. with lacquer on the surface of lacquer ware, and "sowing" metal powder such as gold or silver before it dries, to fix it on the surface of the lacquer ware.

Shinkinshi

 A decorative technique in which a pattern is carved on a lacquer surface with a blade and lacquer is used on these marks to fix gold leaf and gold powder.
